AP Human Geography

AP Human Geography is one of the first AP courses I had the opportunity to take in high school.  It is a challenge compared to your previous social studies classes, part of being advanced placement.  A major challenge to the course comes from assignments such as this short research paper about J.H. von Thunen.  Assignments such as these are not done correctly when done fast, something which is true for assignments in almost all classes.  For something to be done correctly, it must be executed with precision and accuracy.  AP Human Geography challenges a student to increase their ability to look at the question of "why?" Research about Von Thunen discovers not only that his models of agricultural land use in geography are placed in a pattern that emphasizes the centraility to a market.  AP Human Geography expands a student's thinking to look at why things are where they are.  This method of thinking is the application to other parts of everyday life.

This document was one of the first assignments we had to do in AP Human Geography.  It was to take a geographer, such as J.H. von Thunen, and create a quick synopsis of their contributions to geography.
